A 7.7 magnitude earthquake hit off the coast of Jamaica between Cuba at around 2:10pm on Tuesday, January 28. There have been several unconfirmed social media reports of buildings shaking in downtown Miami and Dadeland areas ensuing several building evacuations.
Gables Insider spoke with City of Coral Gables Fire Chief Marcos De La Rosa and he confirmed no seismic activity has been reported in Coral Gables. The Chief attended a briefing held by Miami-Dade County and no concerns are present for Coral Gables at this time.
