The Coral Gables City Commission will hold a sunshine meeting on Tuesday, February 15th, to discuss reversing the zoning code changes adopted in 2021 to the Biltmore Way section of the City.
As you will recall, staff acknowledged it had made a mistake and informed the Commission no changes to what was allowed on Biltmore Way would come of changes made to the zoning code in early 2021, which were intended to clean up sections of the code.
The Commission discussed this item at the January meeting and asked staff to schedule a sunshine meeting and prepare a clear presentation on what the changes were, what was allowed and how it should be reversed.
The City’s Planning and Zoning Board voted in January to recommend that the Commission consider reversing the changes to both sides of Biltmore Way, following a proposal which would only reverse part of the upzoning.
The sunshine meeting will take place at the City Commission Chamber at 5:30PM on Tuesday, February 15th and will be available via zoom at the following link: https://zoom.us/s/3054466800.
Since the dictators in City Hall wanted the Mobility Hub (the big glass box) so very badly,
they should pay OUT OF THEIR OWN POCKETS the FORTY MILLION DOLLARS for it.
Since the residents did not want the big glass box, the residents should not pay ONE CENT for it.
They take bribes from developers. Always have and always will. Ad you are right, they could not care less what the citizens want. I have seen it all of my adult life in neighborhoods, home by home (Sunrise Harbour) and downtown, which is now unrecognizable. It is also unfriendly and unpleasant.
In a democracy, the City officials must follow the choice of the people.
The people want the Med-bonus, etc removed from the north side of Biltmore Way. No monster buildings there.
The “Sunshine” meeting today will turn into darkness.
The City officials will not clearly commit themselves— no ifs, ands, or buts— to remove the Med-bonus, etc from the north side of Biltmore Way. They will not give up their power. They will again impose their power against the clear choice of the residents.
Remember the “Mobility Hub” !!!! City officials imposed their power on the residents. Over SIX HUNDRED residents signed petitions AGAINST the mobility hub. Not ONE resident signed a petition FOR the mobility hub. The City official APPROVED the mobility hub. They are going ahead with their big glass box and want the residents to pay over $40 million for it. The residents don’t want it.
Face facts. A dictatorship exists in parts of City Hall. It has determined, again and again, against the residents’ choice, we must live with monster buildings/ non-Mediterranean buildings in our neighborhoods. We must do other things they want in our neighborhoods: the Wawa, Burger Bob’s, Biltmore Way, etc.
The City officials have stolen the residents’ power to decide what the residents want in their neighborhoods. Monster buildings / non-Mediterranean buildings are not wanted in our neighborhoods.
The concerned residents are fighting to return the power to them, where it always rightfully belonged. The concerned residents are fighting for freedom in their neighborhoods.
The day is coming when concerned residents kick out the dictators in City Hall:: the 5 commissioners, Peter Iglesias, attorney Miriam Ramos, attorney Cristina Suarez, Ramon Trias, and Robert Behar.
The day is coming democracy returns to Coral Gables. On that day, freedom shines in our neighborhood. The monster buildings / non-Mediterranean buildings are no longer there.
