Gables Insider Hurricanes Baseball Reporter Selected As Canes Fan Of The Game

He drives over an hour each way to watch each and every home game. His passion for the Hurricanes is unmatched. He proudly wears Hurricanes colors daily and doesn’t miss an opportunity to share his insights on the team with fans of the team.

Gables Insider’s Hurricanes Baseball Reporter, Mike Kaffee, was recognized for his support of the team this past Friday, as the Hurricanes named Kaffee “Fan of the Game.”

“I have not missed a home game since becoming a season ticket holder in 2002. Retired from the Air Force in 1986 with my last duty assignment as the base executive officer at Homestead AFB. Living in Paradise at the time, Key Largo, it has been my home ever since 1982. After retiring from the AF, I continued serving others by becoming a deputy sheriff in Monroe County for the next 15 years. My hobby and passion has been writing game recaps of all Canes baseball games, which I have recently  been published by Gables Insider. I have been writing about the Canes since 2012 and have become the unofficial source of the ‘rest of the story’ not covered by the local media,” said Kaffee.

The Hurricanes honored Kaffee presenting him with a game ball at Friday’s game.

“There a have been so many memorable moments over my 19 years at the LIGHT but my most memorable moment has to March 4,2014 where my headline read PERFECTION! ABSOLUTE PERFECTION! That was not only the day that Javi Salas pitched his way into the college baseball history books for a perfect game, but what made it more memorable was listening to his brother Jorge broadcasting the game over WVUM and the excitement he provided on the final pitch. You don’t capture moments like this even in Hollywood,” Kaffee added.

We at Gables Insider are proud to be able to share Kaffee’s recaps with our subscribers and look forward to continuing to bring you the “rest of the story” as presented by Kaffee.

Congratulations Mike! Well deserved recognition! Go Canes!
