The O’Miami Poetry Festival has made its way into Coral Gables. The festival, in its tenth year, has partnered with Books & Books at 265 Aragon Avenue to bring us two poetic events.

Saturdays in April from 3:00PM to 5:00PM you will have the opportunity to “Check out a Poet”. Festival Founder and Director Scott Cunningham explains that this event is “like checking out a book, but you check out a poet for 15 minutes and ask them anything you want.” It is an opportunity to have a conversation and delve into the mind of a poet and learn about who they are or simply share a reading.

“Check-Out a Poet” is a project created by Miami-Dade Public Library System where people have the opportunity to engage with real-life poets and either hear their work or ask them any questions they might have for them. O’Miami does make one request, “They only ask that you return the poets afterwards, don’t take them home.

On Sundays from 3:00PM to 5:00PM and on Wednesdays from 6:30PM to 8:30PM you can also enjoy “Poems To Order”. At this event poets will write a custom poem to order for you.
