Official Press Release of MG Developer

The retrospective exhibition at the Coral Gables Museum by Julio Larraz: The Kingdom We Carry Inside, began on December 1st, 2021 and will soon be coming to an end on, April 30th, 2022. This exhibition has taken over the main three temporary galleries of the Coral Gables Museum, where guided tours are still being provided by the museum’s chief curator, Yuni Villalonga (by appointment).

Julio Larraz, known as one of Latin America’s most influential art figures, has garnered institutional recognition and plaudits from both colleagues and young painters from across globe for his masterful harnessing of technique, color and light, along with the poetry and subtlety of his pieces. This exhibition is Larraz’s first museum retrospective, representing all mediums and key time periods of his life and work, from his early days as a caricaturist for major newspapers and magazines, to later drawings, paintings and sculptures

In December 2021, the museum hosted an Art Basel event called a Brunch with the Artist and Book Launch, where light bites and mimosas where served, and Larraz’s most recent and comprehensive book, of the same title, was launched.

MG Developer hosted an event that offered curated tours of the exhibition to celebrate the culmination of Miami’s Art season. On behalf of the museum, Alirio Torrealba, CEO of MG Developer, also presented the Julio Larraz’s book as gifts to the Miami Herald, International Finance Bank, One Sotheby’s, and Wynwood Shipping, all of which were key sponsors that help make Julio Larraz’s exhibition an Art Basel satellite venue at the Coral Gables Museum.

MG Developer is committed to the beautification of the city and supports its Art in Public Places program, commissioning an original stone sculpture at Balboa Plaza called “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Most recently, MG Developer completed the living rug to accompany the stone bench sculpture.  The firm is an advocate of public exhibitions throughout Coral Gables that enhances the area’s unique lifestyle and design and is also a proponent of philanthropic efforts and organizations that elevate the city’s standard of living, including the Coral Gables Community Foundation, Coral Gables Museum and FundaHigado
