The University of Miami has filed plans to build a new Football Operations Center and parking garage at its Coral Gables Campus.

The plans, still in the early stages with the City of Coral Gables, would seek the City’s approval for a 162,000 square foot Football Operations Center and a 200,000 square foot parking garage (Dickinson Garage).

The proposed Football Operations Center would include offices for all football personnel, player locker rooms, a fitness center, team meeting rooms, an alumni lounge, rehab and treatment facilities, a photo studio, media offices, podcast rooms and a simulator room.

The proposed Dickinson Garage would also feature an 18,000 square foot dining facility. It was part of a previously approved plan and is being relocated and reduced in size from the initially planned 280,000 square feet, in order to accommodate for the Football Operations Center.

The buildings will be located to the west of the Watsco Center.

The University submitted its application on September 8th.

The application will be reviewed by the City’s Development Review Committee on Friday, December 9th at 9:30AM at the First Floor Board Room at 427 Biltmore Way. Residents can also watch on Zoom at: https://zoom.us/j/85315404461.

  1. Miami doesn’t want a stadium, stop blathering about it! Owning a stadium is the dumbest financial decision the university could make. It would be a financial drain hole with only 6 yearly events, and too much stadium competition in the region for other events. The U needs to just start winning again and then the stadium fills up…

  2. And if the new football stadium 🏟 πŸ€” πŸ‘€ πŸ™„ 😬 😐 ever get’s approved πŸ‘Œ πŸ‘ πŸ‘ πŸ˜€ πŸ™„ πŸ™Œ “?? It should have inscribed on the side of the stadium 🏟 πŸ™„ πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‘ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜’”(THE UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI HURRICANES πŸŒ€ ✨️ πŸ™Œ ❀️ 😍 πŸ’• WOULD LIKE πŸ‘ πŸ‘Œ 😳 πŸ™„ πŸ˜€ 🀣 TO WELCOME πŸ™ πŸ€— 😳 πŸ˜€ πŸ˜‰ 😜 YOU TO πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜€ 😳 πŸ™„ 😜 🀣 πŸ˜‰ THE NEW AND IMPROVED 🍊 🟧 πŸ“™ ✴️ 🟠 πŸ”ΈοΈ ORANGE BOWL πŸ₯£ πŸ˜‘ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜„ πŸ˜’ πŸ‘Œ)”?!!?πŸ’―πŸ’’πŸ’₯πŸ’«πŸŒ‹πŸ”₯β˜„οΈβš‘οΈπŸ’°πŸͺ™πŸ’΅πŸ’ΈπŸ’³πŸ‘πŸ‘ŒπŸ€ŒπŸ‘ŠπŸ€œπŸ€›πŸ‘πŸ™ŒπŸ€πŸ€²πŸ™

  4. I’m a UM graduate and Mr.Merrick should be honored, but not naming the new facility after him. I don’t know who donated the money to build the new facility, but I think it should be named after him.

  5. The city should only approve on the condition that it be named The George Merrick Football Operations Center. In that way, they could finally honor the man that created the U.
