Actors’ Playhouse Nominated For 8 Carbonell Awards

This week, the list of nominees for the 44th annual Carbonell Awards was released and Coral Gables’ Actors’ Playhouse came away with 8 nominations.

Actors’ Playhouse received 6 nominations for Memphis and 2 for Ring of Fire: The Music of Johnny Cash.

Memphis:

  • Best Production of a Musical
  • Best Director/Musical – David Arisco
  • Best Actor/Musical – Eddie Egan
  • Best Actress/Musical – Gabrielle Graham
  • Choreography – Ron Hutchins
  • Best Costume Design Play or Musical – Ellis Tillman

Ring of Fire: The Music of Johnny Cash:

  • Musical Direction – Ben Hope
  • Best Ensemble/Play or Musical

The Carbonell awards, named after Manuel Carbonell the sculptor of the award, has been recognizing South Florida productions since 1976.

“This is an exciting time for the Carbonell Awards,” said Don Walters, president of the Carbonell Awards Board of Directors. “The nominees represent the vast wealth of talent in the South Florida tri-county region and the diverse theatrical experiences our audiences support and enjoy.”

GableStage also received a nomination for Best Ensemble/Play or Musical for The Children.

The Carbonell Awards ceremony will take place Monday, April 6 at 7:30 p.m. at Lauderhill Performing Arts Center, 3800 NW 11 Place, Lauderhill.
