Official Press Release from Coral Gables Crime Watch
Coral Gables Crime Watch proudly announces being selected as one of 32 recipients out of over 100 applicants who applied for the Safe in the 305 Grant Program.
This grant is an initiative of Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava’s Peace & Prosperity Plan adopted, with unanimous support, by the Board of County Commissioners in June 2021.
Safe in the 305 is designed to incentivize and encourage resident leaders and organizations to promote peace and prosperity across communities, by funding community-driven actions that make their own neighborhoods safer.
Coral Gables Crime Watch will be purchasing reflectors residents can wear or attach to their clothing, book bags, etc., to make it easier for motorists to see them during evening hours or dusk. Our goal is to keep our residents safe while they continue to go walking, bicycle riding, jogging outdoors and interacting with others in the community.
We will announce when we receive these items and they will be available on a first come, first serve basis.
For more information, please contact Ana Lam, Director of Coral Gables Crime Watch at (305) 441-5760. Remember, if you “See Something, Say Something”!
Umm…about every 2 months, my Ring cameras catch thieves trying to break into our cars. Oh, and packages stolen twice. I don’t understand all the patting on the back for a job well done??

Really????
This is press release material??
Let a less fortunate community win and do something of value for their area. Or just donate the backpacks and reflectors to them.
What “crimes” will those reflectors prevent?
Rather than build safe walking and biking infrastructure, the city is giving out reflective vests.
