Official Press Release of the Historic Preservation Association of Coral Gables
Please join the Historic Preservation Association of Coral Gables (HPACG) this week at our next event.
From the naming of the streets to the design/motif of countless sites and structures, the Moorish influence on Coral Gables endures.
Many surprises are in store, and there are educational, cultural, and historical components to the event.
Meet & Greet at “The Coral Gables Bazaar”
Friday, November 11th from 5:30-7pm
1340 Asturia Avenue, Coral Gables, FL 33134
This is a meet & greet event where you can get to know members and friends of the organization and learn about our mission.
Free to attend, but please bring cash/check to purchase a signature gift basket, art piece, book, or vintage item from our hospitality table. Thank you and here’s to celebrating our rich history and architecture in the Gables!
Oh yes, I can clearly see “the Moorish influence” in the Ocean Bank building on Le Jeune and the Del Monte building on Sevilla.
I think that architecture style is called Neo-Mudéjar (see, for example, the Las Ventas Bullring in Madrid).
But maybe I am wrong, and the style of the two buildings is “We Don’t Really Give A Sh*t What They Look Like”.
