The world of social media and online platforms has continued its growth. It became crucial to some during the COVID-19 pandemic. They became sources for sharing, engaging and spreading information.

For many years, the need has existed for a platform to provide an opportunity for civic engagement and follow government closely. Enter MOXY.

MOXY, based in Coral Gables, is “a non-partisan Social Ecosystem connecting Voters, Elected Representatives, Thought Leaders and Authorized Organizations. Designed to enhance mutual understanding, empower normal people and enable true democracy to thrive in the 21st century.”

The platform was created by former municipal and Apple employee, Cesar Melgoza, who sought to promote civic engagement and provide legislative information to constituents.

MOXY provides an opportunity for elected officials to engage with constituents through the platform, which provides features subscribers are familiar with such as, a news feed, stories and even podcasts. It uses your address to link you with your government representatives.

It also allows for subscribers to see individual legislation and how their representatives voted on each item. Subscribers can also rate and review their elected officials.

Mayor Vince Lago Joins

In June, Coral Gables Mayor Vince Lago became one of the first Coral Gables official to join MOXY.

“Citizen engagement is crucially important to understanding the community which in turn, can lead to improved outcomes when trying to seek out the aspirations, concerns and values of residents, business owners and stakeholders,” said Lago.

“MOXY’s home is Coral Gables so it’s gratifying to have Mayor Lago join and participate in the platform so we can start locally as we extend our outreach nationwide,” said Cesar Melgoza, Founder and CEO of MOXY.

MOXY is web-based and available through Apple and Android apps. Click here to join MOXY.

  5. Thank you Mr. Salup. We will be posting his interview on Leaders & Coffee soon.

  6. Cesar Melgoza is much much more than the brief description that you have here. Cesar was the founder of Geoscape, the first real geographic and psychographic database most of us ever saw. His work in charting acculturation among Hispanics is legendary. Cesar is truly committed to understanding and knowledge. He’s a total class act.
