Miami Spice Month Review & Contest: Bellmónt Spanish Restaurant

For the nearly 50,000 of us who work in the City of Coral Gables, we often venture to our favorite spots to have lunch.

Most of us have walked past this restaurant hundreds of times. We have all missed out!

Let me tell you about a little gem in the heart of Coral Gables that is Bellmónt Spanish Restaurant.

Located at 339 Miracle Mile, Bellmónt was founded by three brothers from Madrid Spain in 2013. It is named after their mother, Africa Bellmónt, whose recipes are also used for most of their dishes.

The restaurant has been a labor of love for its owner, Sergio Catalina Bellmónt, who has built and designed most of the interior of the restaurant himself, inspired by his home town of Madrid.

“Bellmónt is a family business where everyone helps out,” said Claudia Romero who is Sergio’s wife and is the face of the restaurant for patrons. “We have built this restaurant by hand and are proud of what we have accomplished,” she added.

MIAMI SPICE MONTH

Bellmónt is one of 30 restaurants in Coral Gables participating in Miami Spice Months, which runs through September 30th. Miami Spice Month provides a menu that offers you an appetizer, entre and desert for $23 for lunch and $39 for dinner.

For my lunch, I chose the Lentil Soup (Sopa de Lenteja) for my appetizer, the Fresh Wild Salmon (Salmon Fresco Salvaje), and the Homemade Flan (Flan de Huevo Casero).

I must say, I was very impressed by my meal. The soup was excellent and just the right portion to open my pallet. It had just the right amount of spice and a great mix of vegetables. The Salmon was perhaps one of the best salmons I have had. It was appropriately combined with greens and the Teriyaki sauce provided the perfect flavor. The flan was superb as well.

Their regular menu has some great Spanish options and a lengthy list of Tapas to make for a great sharing meal with family and friends. (SEE FULL MENU)

Bellmónt also offers a great atmosphere for dining with live music on Friday nights and on the last Saturday of the month.
