Neighbors living on the 1400-1500 blocks of Sienna Ave, Certosa Ave and Robbia Ave have voiced concerns after decades of frequent power-loss interruptions. There will be a meeting at the Coral Gables Adult Activity Center ( 2 Andalusia Ave, Coral Gables, FL 33134) on Wednesday August 14th at 6:00pm to discuss an action plan which includes trimming vegetation along the power lines and having FPL upgrade equipment.
This week FPL sent out email notices to account holders in this area advising that “a work crew will be clearing the power lines in your neighborhood in the next few weeks. This work involves trimming tree limbs and palms that could interfere with power lines – and cause safety hazards and power outages or flickers”. They are asking neighbors not to trim any trees or vegetation growing on or near power lines.
Hi Ginger! The trees were the main cause of the problem. FPL will be trimming the trees close to the lines. For additional information you can contact city call or email Vice Mayor Vince Lago who was at the meeting last night and assisted the neighbors in coordinating with FPL. [email protected]
We have a customer who is buying a home on Robbia. Can you give a summary of the meeting that took place last night? Also, did they determine what was causing the problem?
Many thanks
