Official City of Coral Gables Notice
The City of Coral Gables promoted Paula Rodriguez to Assistant Director of Public Works responsible for the Solid Waste Management Division. Previously, she was a Management and Budget Analyst providing financial and analytical support for the city’s $228 million operations and capital budget.
“Paula has the know-how and commitment to customer service to manage this vital service for our residents,” said Hermes Diaz, the city’s Public Works director. “We have no doubt that she will do an excellent job of handling the day-to-day operations while looking to improve our service delivery.”
In her new role she oversees a team of more than 70 who handle weekly trash and recycling pick-up as well as twice weekly back/side yard garbage pick-up. She also oversees contracts with private vendors who operate these services for multi-family and commercial properties.
Rodriguez has more than 20-years of administrative experience in South Florida municipalities. She began her career at the City of Miami Beach where she held numerous positions during her tenure. She joined Coral Gables in 2016 as an Administrative Analyst from the Village of Bal Harbour and has worked on multiple projects and strategic initiatives.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in supervision and management from Miami Dade College.
The public works personnel for solid waste management in my neighborhood do a very good job and are very pleasant to deal with.
I wish Paul Rodriguez the best, to continue that tradition and perhaps make it better.
