This Saturday, November 23rd, the Coral Gables Museum will be holding its “Party Like Its 1939!” Gala to raise funds for the Museum.
The theme for this year brings the museum back to the year of completion of the building, which was originally the City’s firehouse being honored by the presence of the City’s 1931 firetruck.
“The entire Museum will be transformed into a series of glamorous Hollywood nightclubs – every room a step back to the Golden Age of Hollywood…from vintage automobiles and the magical world of MGM (where “there were more stars than in the Heavens”) and Paramount…of timeless films like “Gone With The Wind” and “The Wizard of Oz,” of chic clubs and big bands, of casinos and private clubs where you had to know the password to be admitted. For one night only, you can imagine rubbing shoulders with Clark Gable and Jimmy Stewart, sharing a vintage cocktail with Joan Crawford, get a look at the newest platinum blonde on her way to stardom, or maybe even catch the song that is soaring to the top of the charts, sung by a young kid named Judy Garland, a little tune called “Somewhere Over The Rainbow,” accompanied by 14-person orchestra. Tickets are available on EventBrite – and I would recommend the VIP tickets while they last. Those will get you into “Withers’ Hideaway,” the Key West version of Hollywood’s famed after-hours clubs. I’ve been told, in confidence, that Ernest Hemingway just might be making an appearance here. I can promise a very special evening and hope to see everyone there!”
The event takes place this Saturday, November 23rd from 6:00PM to 11:30PM at the Coral Gables Museum (285 Aragon Avenue, Coral Gables, FL 33134).
Tickets will be available for purchase through this evening through the event’s Eventbrite page.
