We’re seeing double! There are two nearly identical agenda items. Each item is sponsored by the same two commissioners.
- G-6 A Discussion regarding the potential acquisition of Banyan Drive Park. (Sponsored by Vice Mayor Vince Lago)
- G-7 A discussion to provide direction to staff regarding the acquisition of Banyan Drive Park from Miami-Dade County. (Sponsored by Commissioner Patrica Keon)
- G-12 A resolution to authorize the city manager to enter into an amended and restated memorandum of understanding to fund the underline a sum of $7,000,000 which comes from the Park and Mobility Impact Fees collected by the city. (Sponsored by Vice Mayor Lago)
- G-13 A resolution to authorize the city manager to enter into an amended and restated memorandum of understanding to fund the underline a sum of $7,000,000 which comes from the Park and Mobility Impact Fees collected by the city. (Sponsored by Commissioner Keon)
It’s unusual to see identical items on the same agenda sponsored by different commissioners. City Hall insiders say there could be fireworks a the next meeting as one commissioner is trying to take credit for the hard work of another.
Other notable items:
- Presentation by Robert Martinez on the outcome of the anonymous letter investigation. ( Sponsored by Vice Mayor Lago)
- A discussion regarding Red Road improvements ( Sponsored by Vice Mayor Lago)
- A discussion regarding the development plan of action to address the open trash pits on the Red Road Swale. (Sponsored by Vice Mayor Lago)
- A discussion regarding the steps our Coral Gables Police Department and City Administration will take to continue self-evaluating and implement policies that combat structural racism and incentivize just policing practices. (Sponsored by Commissioner Mena)
- A discussion regarding City’s Park Naming Policy (Sponsored by Commissioner Keon)
- A discussion regarding notice procedure for traffic calming community meetings. (Sponsored by Commissioner Fors, Jr. )
The city needs to recognize tax loss in the time of coronavirus and give up some of the art and other projects that lead to budget inbalance and pay down the cities debt so that the bond rating and costs improve.
Not a single agenda item regarding the pandemic. Good to see the Commissioners are in dream land. Maybe we need Gables government put in lockdown. Jack Thompson
What happened to outsourcing the horrible and expensive garbage service. On Lugo, a trash can sat for 3 weeks without being picked up. When the homeowner returned from business travel, he had to clean out all the maggots and rebag the trash. Why are we paying the trash fees for Coral Gables, in addition to the county, and the lack of service is astounding?
we need to re open testing, how can we have contact with friends, workers, landscapers, housekeepers, dish washers, bar backs, and our neighbors if we cant test and test often? If its good enough for POTUS hourly or before he meets anybody why cant the city offer it for the residents and guest to the city? This is worth more than code enforcement and meter maids. Please re open testing and test often!m
And here we go. More incompetence from Lago and Keon. Two imbeciles that have no business governing a city.
Is this the complete official agenda. Are there no additional items to be discussed or voted upon?
We need testing site to reopen, we are willing to pay & get tested for our peace of mind but maybe City can offer residents a small discount. Thanks.
