Gables Insider Has A New Intern Writer, A Coral Gables Senior High School Senior

Gables Insider launched on July 1st of this year with the goal of bringing you news and information that is local to Coral Gables.

Over the last five months, we have broken local stories such as Cheesecake Factory and Target coming to Coral Gables.

During a recent visit to Coral Gables Senior High School, we learned about the great journalism program the school is offering its seniors and offered an opportunity for internship with Gables Insider.

Less than a week later, senior Ruben Escobar, reached out and informed us of his interest in our internship.

This past Tuesday, Ruben’s first work was published on Gables Insider, “Your Quick-Guide to the Nov. 12th Commission Meeting.”

“Interning at the Gables Insider has provided me with the chance to act as a journalistic outside of my high school bubble. My pool of resources expanded since not being restricted to interviewing students or the perspective of the high school student. Being able to write about a wider range of subjects has helped me foster even more passion for journalism. Being a part of the Gables Insider team means having more creative freedom and dipping my toes into a career field that I see myself pursuing post graduation,” said Escobar.

“Local politics has a direct impact on our community. Working with talent from our own backyard like Ruben helps ensure we continue to strive to promote good government and highlight what our wonderful city has to offer to those that live, work, study and play in Coral Gables.” said Juan Carlos Diaz-Padron, Co-Founder of Gables Insider.

“We are excited to offer students like Ruben who have a passion for journalism and for our City Beautiful, the opportunity to have their work published in Gables Insider. Ruben is a great addition to our team and will give our readers a different perspective on news in Coral Gables. His desire to take on this extracurricular activity and work to enhance his resume is commendable and we are thrilled we could offer him this opportunity,” said Ariel Fernandez, Co-Founder of Gables Insider.
