World Renowned “Los Trompos” Art Exhibition Now Open At Shops At Merrick Park

Official Press Release of Shops At Merrick Park

Los Trompos, the vibrant, world-renowned outdoor art exhibition created by Mexican designers Héctor Esrawe and Ignacio Cadena, will make its South Florida debut, tomorrow, at Shops at Merrick Park in Coral Gables. The pop-up exhibit runs through February 28.

“Los Trompos,” which means “spinning tops” in Spanish, is a traveling exhibit that has been displayed in cities around the world, including Mexico City, Paris, and New York.

Unique modules topped by colorful surfaces of stretched fabric woven in a traditional Mexican style, invite guests to jump in and take a spin. Functioning as both artwork and a rotating platform, each larger-than-life, three-dimensional colorful sculpture acts as an engaging gathering place for relaxation, social interaction and entertainment. The art draws its inspiration from a toy that has been popular with children around the world since the dawn of time.

The exhibition runs from Tuesday, January 31 through Tuesday, February 28 and is open during Shops at Merrick Park’s operating hours.

Shops at Merrick Park is located at 358 San Lorenzo Ave.

Los Trompos was first commissioned by High Museum of Arts, Atlanta. Owners of Los Trompos are DTE Energy Beacon Park Foundation and The Downtown Detroit Partnership. The tour producer is Creos.
